Who is IFMA?
The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) is an association dedicated to providing support to
facility management professionals through programs of career development, education and research. Founded in 1980,
IFMA has steadily grown with the profession, and is the premiere organization supporting facility management.
Today, IFMA boasts a worldwide membership of more than 19,000 facility managers throughout 54 countries with 129
chapters.
Who Should Apply?
- Facility management practitioners with less than 5 years of
experience
- Transitioning professionals with significant experience in related
careers
- Partner practitioners such as architects, designers and safety
engineers
- Associated corporate providers of FM products and services
- Students entering the profession from college, universities, certificate or technical
programs
Where can you take the courses?
- IFMA Spring and Fall Symposium. The fall symposium will be held on October 11-14 in Dallas, TX (prior to
World Workplace).
- IFMA online learning center
- IFMA recognized programs through colleges, universities or technical programs
- IFMA approved providers - FMS Associates Asia Pte Ltd.
How long does it take to achieve the FMP
designation?
If you decide to take the courses in person, the average time to get the designation is about 1 year.You are
required to finish the 4 modules within 12 months.
If you decide to take the courses on line, it could be less than year. It's really up to you and your pace you
set for yourself.
Do I need to do any maintenance or
upkeep on the designation?
No. This program only requires the 4 areas to be
taken.
